Lead Parent Ambassador

Johnta Gatling Marshall serves as the lead Parent Ambassador for Waterbury Bridge to Success (BTS) Community Partnership.

A devoted mother, Waterbury native, and proud product of the Waterbury Public School system, Johnta has taken pride in being a voice for equitable change through the lens of a caregiver. In her role at the organization, Johnta supports the Early Care & Education collaborative action network in bringing together parents of children 0-8 years old, and organizational partners by providing educational and community resources/support to support child development. Additionally, Johnta serves as a thought partner in the dissemination of the Sparkler parent mobile app that helps parents and caregivers harness the science of early child and brain development to make the most of the early years within the Waterbury community.

Johnta holds an Associates Degree in Corrections from Naugatuck Valley Community College and is currently enrolled at Post University where she is studying correctional counseling. It is her aspiration to serve in the State of Connecticut and continue to advocate for criminal justice reform for Black and Brown people to reduce the rates of recidivism.

In her free time, she enjoys time with her family, reading and watching crime documentaries.
