BOOST Program

In 2017, BTS received grants to begin implementing the Boost model in four Waterbury PreK-8 schools. The Boost! model is based on a community school framework which implies that schools not only provide educational services for students, but also a range of other resources for children, youth, and their families. Our Director of Community Schools has worked together with school principals, administration, students, and parents to evaluate the needs and wishes regarding afterschool programs. In the fall of 2017, BTS created a comprehensive report on Boost! and its progress to date. Read the full Boost! Report here.

Boost Partnership

Boost! is an after school framework designed to identify specific needs, based on data, in each of the four pilot schools. Based on a community school model, Boost! links schools to community partners who provide services or programs to serve students and their families. BTS-Boost! has taken an inventory of internal and external services, programs, and activities in the 4 participating pilot schools that serve pre-K-8 students. Based on 2017 student surveys and asset mapping reporting, Boost! schools are currently seeking programs for students in the following areas:

Basketball        STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)
Cooking             Drawing                          Math                                    Spanish
Painting              Emotional Behavioral Support                     Team Building

Please know that these needs are not fixed and may change from year to year. In fact, as BTS-Boost continues to collect new data, such as family needs, this information will be updated on this page and will be shared in our newsletter. Be sure to subscribe to the BTS Newsletter for updates on this and other BTS news.
