#Day43 Community Impact Intern

Anika S. Callum serves as the #Day43 Community Impact Intern for Waterbury Bridge to Success (BTS) Community Partnership.

In this role, Anika focuses on organizational management, strategy development, marketing, and modern initiatives on the impending public health crisis with Black mothers, birthing people, and their children. Anika has previously assisted BTS as an event volunteer for several years.

A daughter of Brooklyn and Jamaican immigrants, she is no stranger to the public health field. Anika’s expertise lies at the intersection of community education, K-12 student support, health equity, and advocacy. Over the last five years, she has served in several roles through cross-sector partnerships. In her most recent role as a college advisor for ReadyCT, Anika assisted students in different capacities to identify their dreams, set goals and make them a reality through postsecondary opportunities in Connecticut and beyond. Her ability to streamline programmatic activities, assessments, and student advocacy have led the organization to new heights.

Currently, Anika is a student at Barry University in Miami, Florida pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She realized at a young age that becoming a nurse would further her calling of centering the care of individuals, families, and her community through healthcare, advocacy, and their social needs.
